These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of AlignCV (the "Service"), operated via the website https://getaligncv.com ("Site"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
AlignCV is an AI-powered CV and cover letter builder that helps users create, edit, and optimise professional CVs and cover letters. The Service is provided by AlignCV ("we", "us", or "our").
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence.
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using AlignCV, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
To access certain features, you may need to create an account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
AlignCV provides AI-assisted tools that enable users to:
- Create and customise professional CVs using AI-generated suggestions
- Generate tailored cover letters based on job descriptions and user profiles
- Download, export, and share completed documents
- Access templates, formatting tools, and career guidance resources
The AI-generated content is provided as a starting point and suggestion only. You are solely responsible for reviewing, editing, and verifying any content produced by the Service before using it in job applications or for any other purpose.
5.1 Free and Paid Plans
AlignCV may offer both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans provide access to additional features as described on the Site at the time of purchase.
5.2 Billing
If you subscribe to a paid plan, you authorise us to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, as selected). All fees are quoted in the currency displayed at checkout and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.
5.3 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No partial refunds will be issued for the unused portion of a billing cycle, except where required by law.
5.4 Consumer Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period)
If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, you have a statutory right to cancel your subscription within 14 days of purchase under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. 5.5 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change our pricing. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any price increase. Continued use of the Service after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
6.1 Our Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of the Service (including but not limited to software, code, design, text, graphics, logos, and trademarks) are owned by AlignCV or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws of the United Kingdom and international treaties.
6.2 Your Content
You retain ownership of any personal data, text, and content you input into the Service ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to process and use your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.
6.3 Generated Output
Subject to these Terms, you own the output generated by the Service based on your User Content (e.g., your completed CV or cover letter). We do not claim ownership of documents generated for you. However, we reserve the right to use anonymised and aggregated data to improve the Service.
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Create fraudulent, misleading, or deceptive CVs or cover letters
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your qualifications
- Upload or transmit any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our prior written consent
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these provisions.
The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate suggestions for CVs and cover letters. While we strive for quality and accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. You acknowledge and agree that:
- AI outputs are suggestions and should be reviewed and edited by you before use
- We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose
- You are solely responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of the information in your final documents
- We are not liable for any consequences arising from the use of AI-generated content, including but not limited to rejection of job applications or reputational harm
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
- We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.
- Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by these Terms.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless AlignCV and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.
The Service may contain links to or integrate with third-party websites, services, or APIs (such as payment processors or AI providers). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services. Your use of such services is at your own risk and subject to their respective terms.
We strive to keep the Service available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at our discretion, without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or applicable law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and indemnification) shall survive.
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@getaligncv.com or through your account settings.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer habitually resident in the United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms affects your right to rely on mandatory provisions of consumer protection law. You may also be entitled to use the UK Government's alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedures.
We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the Terms were last revised. Material changes will be communicated to you via email or a prominent notice on the Site. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and AlignCV regarding your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements.
